
Ficcion Producciones announces global sales of the first season of Operación Marea Negra by distributor E-One

Prime Video will soon premiere the second season of the series.

Ahead of MIPCOM, Entertainment One (eOne) announced last Friday a series of key international sales for the first season of Operación Marea Negra, the epic drama based on true events that represent the first narco-submarine intercepted in Europe. Sold to more than 60 territories, the four-part series has been licensed to The Roku Channel (US and Mexico), SBS (Australia), AMC Networks International (Latin America), Telus (Canada), TV+ (Turkey), Ziggo (Netherlands), TVNZ (New Zealand) and the FOX channel owned by Disney (Spain). Set in November 2019 and inspired by real events, Operation Black Tide follows three companions who try to cross the Atlantic in a homemade submarine loaded with more than 3,000 kilos of cocaine. While on board, they fight to survive, battling storms, unpredictable currents, hunger, infighting, and the authorities, in this risky underwater adventure. The first season of Operación Marea Negra is produced by Ficción Producciones, with Mamen Quintas and Julio Casal as executive producers along with the Portuguese company Ukbar Filmes. The co-producers are FORTA, led by TVG, and the Portuguese RTP. The series had the support of AGADIC and the Xunta de Galicia for its development and is directed by Daniel Calparsoro, Oskar Santos and João Maia. In addition to the scripted drama, a companion documentary series Operation Black Tide: The Suicide Journey is also available for licensing. The four-episode documentary collects all the information to learn about the journey of the first semi-submersible drug trafficker that reached the coasts of Europe with three thousand kilos of cocaine on board and the terrible journey that its three crew members suffered from the moment they left in the middle of the Amazon until they They arrived and were captured on the Galician coast by the Civil Guard.
